About Dr Ann-Michele
After swapping cold Canadian winters for sunny Australia, Dr Ann-Michele studied and graduated from the University of Sydney with a Bachelor of Veterinary Biology and Doctor of Veterinary Medicine, before beginning her veterinary career in regional mixed practice in the Grampians in south-west Victoria.
Life as a mixed-practice vet meant no two days were quite the same, treating everything from cats and dogs to cattle, sheep and the occasional wildlife patient. She later moved into small animal practice, bringing with her broad experience in medicine, dentistry, surgery and emergency care from the region’s only on-call clinic.
Dr Ann-Michele has a particular interest in behaviour medicine and believes looking after emotional wellbeing is just as important as physical health. She is passionate about low-stress handling and making every visit as fear-free and positive as possible, whether a pet is coming in for a routine check-up or something more complicated.
Dr Ann-Michele joined Belconnen Animal Hospital as a Lead Veterinarian in late 2025, and she has loved getting to know the wonderful pets and people who have called our hospital theirs for many years. Her warm, compassionate and dedicated approach has clearly struck a chord, with clients increasingly asking to book with Dr Ann-Michele when they come in.
When not in the clinic, Ann-Michele shares a busy life with her husband, who always seems to have a project on the go, and their two young children. She can often be spotted cycling around Canberra, loves hiking, camping and exploring somewhere new, and has an equally strong need to make things. Sewing, knitting, drawing and watercolour painting all feature, often with a handmade creation for the kids taking shape. Between family adventures and an ever-growing list of creative projects, there is rarely a dull moment.
